Welcome Summer, Indeed.

Hawaiian shirts and flip flops earned these ladies a free tote bag.

We had excellent weather for the first Waterloo Farmers Market in the Park of the year. The sun was shining and there wasn't a mosquito in site. It's always a pleasure to get out and spend time with our community - especially after such a long winter.

From rhubarb to grilling seasonings to cheese, the market has everything you need to host the perfect weekend barbecue. Be sure to stop by next week to learn all about coffee - class begins at 5:30pm!

Jay J's World Famous Kettle Corn was a big hit at this weeks' market. The two area baseball games kept him busy all night!

Crave Brothers Farmstead Cheese

The Salsa Guy - 14 varieties of fresh salsa!

Burgers and brats were a big hit - perfect for the warm weather.

Come for the freshness -- Stay for the fun!

The Waterloo Farmers' Market in the Park will be back for it's second year this Thursday, May 19th! Every week we feature special events for our customers. Our grand opening day is called "Welcome Summer" - and the first 10 customers who come dressed in Hawaiian shirts and flip flops will receive a free Waterloo Farmers' Market canvas bag. Also, enter our weekly drawing of free produce and flowers from our very generous vendors!

The market will feature between 10 and 15 local vendors every week including honey, homemade salsa by The Salsa Guy, coffee drinks, maple syrup, baked goods, jewelry, crafts, brats, hot dogs, burgers, cheese, jellies, jams, and of course, locally grown fresh produce!

The Waterloo market is run completely by volunteers. Our goal is to get friends and neighbors together on a weekly basis, promote good health, encourage people to buy locally and stimulate our local economy.

The market takes place every Thursday afternoon from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Waterloo Firemen's Park. We have fun family-friendly events that include: cooking contests, zucchini races, petting zoos, cooking classes for kids, and silly scarecrow contests in the fall.

Come for the freshness -- Stay for the fun!
